Tiny resort island

Basic facilities but fantastic beaches

Rawa Island (Pulau Rawa) is a small rocky coral island measuring about one kilometer or less than a mile in length off the coast of Malaysia's Johor. While most people taking a ferry from the city of Mersing end up on the much larger Tioman Island a bit further to the north-east, others swear by going to Rawa instead.

Rawa is home to only two resorts, which are of decent quality though not quite five star. The main reason to come here however should be clear: Rawa has fantastic white sand beaches and shallow crystal clear waters in front of it. The small size of the island and limited number of resorts actually guarantee you that the beaches won't be full, and most visitors here would agree that the basic facilities of the resort add to its get-away-from-it-all charm.
