It's a safe bet to say that if you're flying out to find the beaches of your dreams, Punta Cana is going to fulfil your wishes. Stretched out like a boomerang along the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, this region features some of the best beaches in the region and has its own international airport making the trip here all the much easier.
Hundreds of (often all-inclusive and largely five star) resorts line the coast of Punta Cana, mostly around Bávaro and further south towards the airport. And although the service and atmosphere in each is going to be different, there is one area in which they have a hard time differentiating themselves: the beaches. As good as it gets in the Caribbean, the beaches of Punta Cana are extremely clean, feature soft white sand and a gentle slope into the turquoise sea.
We bet that admiring the scenery through your sunglasses from under one of the tall thin palm trees is going to be your main pastime here. If that for whatever reason doesn't satisfy (why did you come here?), a game of golf or day trip to places like Santo Domingo or Saona Island most likely will.
Getting up close and personal with dolphins at Dolphin Island or Manati Park is another favorite, while given that this is the Atlantic coast and waters can be rough here, Punta Cana is not really a diving hotspot. [Review by travelindicator]
