Pulau Weh (Indonesia)

Pulau Weh Travel Guide and Trip Resources

Up there with the best in the Indian Ocean

For Indonesians, Pulau Weh often simply goes by the name of Sabang. That is the main town on this island which sits at the top of Aceh Province of Sumatra in Indonesia. The best way of getting in here used to be to fly to Banda Aceh and take a ferry, but nowadays there are several flights a week from Medan straight to the island which make it even more convenient.

Most accommodation on the island is decent enough - 2 to 4 star hotels and resorts - but that is not really the reason to make your way here anyway. Pulau Weh is one of those places where there is not much to see and accommodation is okay but not hyper luxurious, where you should really just come for a cheap trip featuring the most fantastic beaches and activities like swimming, diving and snorkeling. The beaches are up there with the best in the Indian Ocean. [Review by travelindicator]
