Dig That Mellow Island Vibe

Chilled out placeBusy in the summer

Balance of nature & activities

One of the four largest of the San Juan Islands and located just off the Northwest coast (and part) of Washington State is Orcas Island.

Slightly overshoot it and you're in BC Canada, which is great, but you had designs for a chilled out island break - so let's get back there.

This horseshoe island is a great place to take a break; whilst not being bored silly. You can enjoy the natural elements, the peaceful atmosphere, the beaches, views and birdwatching (if you're into that). Then the next day go whale watching, hiking through the mountain, zip-line through the trees and kayaking.

Orcas Island scores well on our combination theme of "Romantic + Adventure"; it's also super family friendly.

A temperate climate year round makes it an easy place to plan a trip to, be warned though as it is a popular choice in the Summer and its main economy is of course tourism. [Review by travelindicator]
