The winterless North

Historically significant for New ZealandTouristic
Much to do & nice weather to do it
Nature, bays & beaches

This is the place where it all started for New Zealand. Where its original inhabitants ventured ashore on canoes, where the British landed their fleets to make claim and where the treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840 which gave birth to the nation under dual custodianship.

Clearly this is an important and meaningful place in the hearts and minds of its people. But let's get to the reason you're here - its reputation for having no winter. This is of course true, it has the best weather in the country with a subtropical climate it stays pretty perfect all year round.

Take a break and bask in the very northern point where you can watch the sea collide with the ocean - sounds cool right; it is a reference to the Tasman sea (the waters between Australia and New Zealand) and the Pacific ocean meeting.

If you, like many, are road-tripping your way around then heading to Northland is a wise choice, you're close to Auckland, you have coast nearby all the time, there are are some gems like Bay of Islands, your greeted by rolling green hills and it is the historical epicentre of the country.

With a range of activities that will appeal to most it is pretty ideal for families we must say. [Review by nikodonnell]
