Maldives Travel Guide and Trip Resources

Superlatives don't do it justice

Looking for the whitest of white sand beaches, palm trees, luxury and warm shallow waters rich in marine life? Then the Maldives are the place to be, and you can now consider all other places you were considering as poor imitations.

In fact no superlatives would do justice to the beauty and feeling of tranquillity you experience when sitting in an ocean-view bungalow in a Maldives resort to watch the sunset. So we won't try, but you get the idea, we suppose.

This is an island archipelago to the south-west of India, consisting of 1,192 coral islands (grouped as 26 coral atolls), of which 200 are inhabited. Don't expect to do a lot of sightseeing when coming here, as the typical thing is to book a pricey luxury resort, often located on its own island, and remain there for the duration of your stay.

From there on it is all about relaxing, sleeping, eating, and of course... swimming. The beaches of the Maldives are arguably the best in the world. If you are feeling slightly more active, go diving or snorkelling and you will see some of the clearest waters and most interesting marine life you can imagine. [Review by travelindicator]
