Lapland (Lappi in Finnish) is located in the far arctic north of Finland. Famous for its empty open wilderness, extremely cold winters and summers where the sun never sets (as well as being home to, ahem, Santa Clause), Lapland is truly a world of wonders.
What makes Lapland spectacular is its emptiness. You won't find mountains or fjords or anything of the like here, but instead you get (seemingly endless) pine forests, swamps, lakes and open spaces that are roamed by reindeer - of which there are more than people in this entire region - and wolves.
Be dragged along by huskies on a reindeer safari, enjoy a sauna, climb onto a snowmobile, go hiking or cross country skiing... And at the end of the day retreat to your cosy log cabin. What's not to love? [Review by travelindicator]
