Koh Samui (in Thai: เกาะสมุย) is an island off Thailand's east coast. Located in the Gulf of Thailand and part of Surat Thani Province, this is Thailand's second largest island after Phuket (which lies on the west side of the Thai mainland in the Andaman Sea).
The main course here is not going to surprise you: beaches with azure waters, rich marine life and all the fun that comes along with those ingredients. It is highly unlikely that you would travel to Koh Samui and that these would not somehow make their way onto your menu, agree? And the beaches are really good here. Whether you hang out at the relatively crowded beaches of Chaweng or Lamai with their restaurants and bars, or you find a more secluded scenic spot is of course all up to you.
But Koh Samui has more to offer. From waterfalls, many fantastic Buddhist temples in the most picturesque of spots, to exploring the lime stone rocks, coastline and rainforest of the Ang Thong National Marine Park that is formed by 42 islands between Ko Samui and the mainland of Thailand.
