Getting around by 4WD on the beach, then go to explore rainforest, lakes, wildlife and birdlife, spot humpback whales, etc.

Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world (measuring 123km in length), located in Australia's Queensland, about 300km north of Brisbane.

Daily ferries bring plenty of tourists here, who once they arrive have to get around on the beach (four wheel drive vehicles are typically used) as there are no roads inland. Instead, the interior is covered with tropical rainforest, sand dunes (the highest reaching up to 240 meters high), lakes and wetlands, all roamed by a variety of wildlife and birds. Out in the ocean, there is no shortage of humpback whales, sharks and dolphins.

Some of the highlights of Fraser Island include Lake MacKenzie and the green-colored Lake Wabby, the outlook from Indian Head and the Champagne Pools. All in all, this is a great place to kick back and explosure at your leisure. [Review by travelindicator]
