Yekaterinburg (Russia)

Yekaterinburg Travel Guide and Trip Resources

Fabulous Russian architecture

Yekaterinburg (Екатеринбург in Russian and sometimes spelled Ekaterinburg), is Russia's fourth largest city after Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk. Located in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, 1400km or 900 miles to the east of Moscow, it is considered to be the industrial and cultural capital of the Urals region as well as a border city between Europe and Asia. The latter is marked by one of the attractions here, the Europe-Asia monument.

Above all, Yekaterinburg is a city of impressive monuments and Russian architecture. One such impressive sight is the gold-domed Church on the Blood (or Church of All Saints), which was built on the site where the last Tsar of Russia was executed by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Other impressive structured include the grand stalinist City Hall, Sevastyanov Mansion and the building of the Yekaterinburg University (pictured with this article). [Review by travelindicator]
