Vladivostok (Russia)

Vladivostok Travel Guide and Trip Resources

Russia's Far East

Vladivostok (Владивосток in Russian) is a city located near Russia's borders with both North Korea and China, at the tip of the Golden Horn Bay in Primorsky Krai's Pacific Coast. The city is the proud home to the Russian Pacific Fleet as well as a stop on the Trans-Siberian express, and is considered to be one of the most picturesque cities in all of Russia.

That picturesque aspect comes mostly from its location. Surrounded by oak woods on a rocky and hilly peninsula separated from the Russian mainland, the city views are spectacular, and this is what Vladivostok is most renowned for.

The first main place to check out in Vladivostok is the Sportivnaya Harbor with its Navy ships, promenade and beaches. On a sunny day in summer, you can relax your time away here. The other one is the Central Square (Ploschad Bortsov Revolutsy) and the Svetlanskaya Street that runs towards it. Expect to see everyday Russian city-life being played out in front of your eyes, all under the watchful eyes of USSR-era statues. Finally, head up to Eagle's Nest Mount, which will give you spectacular views over Golden Horn Bay and the city. [Review by travelindicator]
