Victoria Falls is a town in the far North-west of Zimbabwe that is famous for the waterfalls from which it derives its name. It is situated near the borders with three other countries: Namibia, Zambia and Botswana.
The waterfall is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and is famous for being the "largest" waterfall in the world. Let that definition sink in for a while, as it does not necessarily mean that it is the highest or the widest, both of which it isn't. But in terms of size that it covers, this is the largest. The waterfall is twice as high as Niagara Falls.
The big question for travellers wanting to explore the falls is whether to see them from the Zimbabwean or Zambian side. As a general rule Zimbabwe is better as it has a better flow of water throughout the year and better overall views of the falls. Note that you can't cross the border without a proper visa.
