Okay, let us confess something here. We came to this destination by searching for what would be the best beaches in Canada. Being the ignoramuses that we are, we figured the results would be funny or non-existent. That was until Tofino's Long Beach was shoved in our faces and we had to eat humble pie.
It's not really this town on the west side of Vancouver Island that you will want to fly or drive/ferry in for (again we thought we were funny and did a search, this time we appeared to be proven right as one of the highest ranked results told us about the "top five trees" in Tofino). Rather than the town itself, the area surrounding it is what has made this place a hit with those traveling in from Vancouver to escape the city.
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve lies next door, while the Maquinna Marine Provincial Park is a short drive away. The combination of these attract lovers of the outdoors in all shapes and sizes, no matter whether they come for some serious salmon fishing, whale watching, surfing or hiking the trails.
Top attraction is Long Beach, the longest stretch of beach anywhere around here with beautiful scenery and great waves (especially if you dare to come during storm season). [Review by travelindicator]
