Firstly you say it like this: sno-kwol-mie, and it derives from the name given to a native american tribe by another native american tribe and translates to "ferocious people"... or so we are told - clearly these tribes didn't get along so well.
It's about 40 minutes east of Seattle and particularly attractive to day-trippers. The main attraction is a towering, thundering, 82m (268 ft) waterfall (that's 30m/100ft higher than Niagara Falls).
If you're into waterfalls, or day-trips then this is a place worth checking out. It is however a popular destination with over 1.5million tourists annually. [Review by nikodonnell]
