Urban in the outdoors

Seattle is the largest city in the state of Washington and in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. It is home to many corporate headquarters (notably Starbucks and Microsoft) and the Port of Seattle, and is one of the most modern and fastest growing cities in the country. The entire metropolitan area has a population of 3.9 million.

The main draw to Seattle are the combination of fantastic natural surroundings (it is called Emerald City for a reason) and a very modern cityscape. The sights across Elliot Bay can be fantastic, and the areas surrounding the city offer everything an outdoors lover could hope for: mountains, lakes and remote wilderness. If you have some time and you're up for it, be sure to try and go for a hike outside of the city. If you have less time, inside of city limits there is an abundance of nice parks as well.

But nature is just the backdrop, which you can tune into or out of as much as you please in Seattle. The main sights within the city are the Pike Place Market, home to the original Starbucks and famous farmers/fish market, as well as the Space Needle that is so iconic for Seattle.
