The nicest feature of San Sebastian without a doubt is the perfect moon-shaped beach that stretches out in front of this Basque city (pop. 185,000).
That is not to say that is the only thing that is attractive about San Sebastian however, as she is really one of those places that has it all: mountainous terrain that's great for hiking in the background, the elegant La Concha beach and promenade out in front, a quaint old town, and fine dining - including countless pintxos bars - and nightlife scene that will rival many of its bigger European peers.
Come summertime this place is totally packed, and you will have a hard time finding a spot on La Concha or the smaller Playa de Ondarreta beaches. In those periods strolling around in the old town with the very lively Plaza de la Constitución at its heart may be more worthwhile.
Stunning views over town can be had from Monte Igueldo while the Miramar palace is a bit quirky but offers similarly nice views across the promenade. [Review by travelindicator]
