Saint Petersburg (Sankt-Peterburg) is a federal city of Russia, located in the far west of the country at the Baltic Sea. It is located closer to Helsinki in Finland than the capital of Moscow. Between 1924 and 1991 the city was renamed to Leningrad. With a population of over 5 million it is the second largest city of the Russian Federation. Until 1918 it was the capital of the country, and the city retains a regal atmosphere to this day.

Saint-Petersburg is UNESCO territory and often considered as one of the most beautiful in the world with its canals, cathedrals, palaces, broad streets and museums. The most famous sight of all is the State Hermitage Museum/Winter Palace, one of the greatest museums in the world housing over 3 million artifacts from across the world including masterpieces from Italy, Holland and Spain.
