Mauge

Peaked too early

Making a comeback
Set up for tourists
Nice views

This is a place that peaked too early, it was all the rage in the 1930s but entered some years of decline. Maybe it is part of a wider trend of 'vintage chic' but It is now being rediscovered and staging a comeback against its more popular and better known resort town of Punta del Este.

Located on the southern coast of Rio de la Plata; you will be surprised to learn how small the permanent population is of this seemingly large city at just under 9,000 (2011).

Tourism is the basis of this locations economy with large: hotels, casinos & nightlife. If that's your thing you'll enjoy that aspect of this place.

For those looking for more adventure, or perhaps a different kind of adventure to trying your luck at a casino you are close by to Cerro Pan de Azúcar, the third highest point of Uruguay (altitude of 423m). [Review by nikodonnell]
