City of Beauty

Patan lies 5 km / 3 miles away from Kathmandu City, separated from it by the Bagmati River. The city is is enclosed by 4 Buddhist stupas which are said to have been built around the 3rd century by then Emperor Ashoka. In fact Patan is renowned for its large amount of Buddhist temples (having a far greater density of them than for instance its bigger neighbour Kathmandu). Because of its proximity to Kathmandu it can serve as a perfect destination for a day trip away. [Review by travelindicator]
