Before we write anything about Ostend (Oostende), just allow us to admit one thing: we are partial to the beaches of northern Europe. Of course the seas in front of them do not have quite (i.e. at all) the azure colors you get in southern France, the sand is not white, there are no palm trees lining the beaches and at times it gets windy and cold.
But on those days that the weather actually IS any good, you will suddenly find them bustling with activity. And on those sunny days, we believe that you will have a hard time finding better beaches anywhere else in Europe.
Oostende is a seaside town with population of just over 70,000 to the south-west of Bruges in Belgium. Famous for its promenade and wide fine-sand beaches, this is a domestic favorite beach destination. Additional sights are the St Petrus and St Paulus Church as well as several museums and remnants of the Atlantic Wall. [Review by travelindicator]
