We've been around, but seldomly have we come across a sea as appealing as those seen when looking out from the beaches of Nice in southern France's Côte d'Azur. Just take a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and you will see what we mean. There is something extaordinarily bright about the azure blue seas in front of it, light blue where it reaches the beaches and deep dark further out.
It's an inviting spectacle. What's perhaps less inviting are the beaches themselves, which mostly consist of pebbles. Not to worry however, as if it's sandy beaches that you're after, you can always head to nearby Villefranche or Antibes.
Nice means something different to every type of traveler, depending on whether you are traveling as a backpacker or in all-out luxury, yet common themes are the promenade, the colorful narrow streets of Vieux Nice (old Nice), shopping and great dining. Typical additions to those are the Musee Matisse (Matisse Museum), lively Cours Saleya Flower Market and the Colline du Chateau with is grand views over the bay. [Review by travelindicator]
