Enormous scale and volume

Niagara Falls are the second largest waterfall in the world by volumeThe actual town is not much to write home about
Partly in Canada and partly in the United States
Verdict tends to be: best views from Canada, but to see all 3 waterfalls you need to go to the US side

So this was a tricky one to classify. Are the Niagara Falls located in Canada or the United States? In fact partly in both. And to make matters more confusing, there is a town with the same name on both sides of the border. But who really cares about technicalities when we are talking about one of the most imposing natural phenomena in the world? Hence we decided to go with Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Niagara Falls consists of three main waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls (mostly in Canada), American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls (entirely on the American side). They have long been a tourist destination for the enormous scale and volume of the water flowing through it. The main thing to do here is obviously to approach the waterfalls in different ways and from different angles; whether by boat, by foot, from the sky (Skylon Tower) or from within caves (Cave of the Winds).

As to whether to visit the Falls on the American or Canadian side, the general consensus seems to be that the Canadian side offers the more complete experience (including a theme park-ish town, which may or may not be something you will enjoy) and better views, whereas on the American side you get less people and are actually able to approach all three, something which cannot be done from the Canadian side.
