Cruise ship territory

Nassau is the capital city of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is located on the island of New Providence, and with a population nearing 250,000 it is also the largest city of the country. Furthermore this is one of the world's most popular cruise ship destinations, with up to seven of these ships being able to dock at the same time.

The city (as the rest of the country) has a subtropical climate and an interesting variety of things to be done and seen. As this is by no means a small town, and a steady inflow of tourists with money to spend is guaranteed, shopping and nightlife are of a high standard. You can shop at everything from straw-markets to high-end boutiques, and you can enjoy clubbing as well as going to the casino in the evening.

The city is surrounded by over 50 free and natural white-sand beaches, so in that sense you are spoilt for choice as well. Culturally there are some interesting sights as well, with the Old Town and Fort Fincastle offering a nice break with a bit more depth than just beaches and casinos. [Review by travelindicator]
