The holy trinity of travel

Margaret River lies amidst one of Australia's most famous wine regions
Wineries are the main draw, but beaches and the sunny climate does not hurt either

I first went to Margaret River after a tip from a friend (incidentally, these are the type of locations I like to add the most as I get to pass on that wonderful tip to a wider audience!) and fell in love with the place. A convenient under 3 hour drive from Perth, Margaret River in Western Australia offers visitors what some may consider to be the holy trinity of travel: sun, beaches and good food and wine (which I am grouping together as one to stick with our holy trinity narrative!)

With a population of just over 4,000 that gets massively outnumbered by tourists at times during the year, Margaret River is by all accounts a small town. Around it lies the Margaret River Wine Region where boutique wineries (which can and should obviously be toured) produce about 20% of premium Australian wines, including top notch Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Besides tasting wines, the local farmers' market (saturday mornings), a swim at the magnificent beaches of Prevelly or Gracetown and a visit to some of the caves around should be on your itinerary. And wine and sun. Lot of wine and sun. [Review by travelindicator]
