Mamoudzou (Mayotte)

Mamoudzou Travel Guide and Trip Resources

Capital of a very French island

Mamoudzou is the capital of Mayotte, the French overseas department that is located between Mozambique and Madagascar. It is located on the main island Grande-Terre and has a population of over 50,000. As this island is administratively part of France, the amount of French expats here is significant.

Mayotte can be heaven for those into diving (it is practically surrounded by coral reefs) or those after white sand beaches. Take note however that Mayotte is quite expensive and has a very "French" feel to it. Which may be a good or a bad thing depending on your own outlook. [Review by travelindicator]
