As those staying up north in Taipei are well aware, it may never truly get cold in Taiwan (Taipei has lows of 14℃-57℉ in January), but it sure can feel cold in winter as most apartments lack any form of heating! Kenting (墾丁), in Taiwan's deepest south, lies firmly in the tropics while Taipei is officially subtropical, and therefore experiences a more constantly warm climate.
The small town of Kenting and accompanying Kenting National Park is a surprise to many when they first come here. The crystal blue color of the water, some of the beaches and the landscape here easily rival those you see advertised in travel guides for the most appealing parts of Thailand or the Philippines. And with added night life kept going by a crowd of Taiwanese youth, a main street that turns into a night market at dusk, rock formations out in sea and plenty of diving and snorkeling spots, it's really not a punishment to spend your holiday here.
A short drive uphill from town brings you to Kenting National Park with trails, caves and great views. [Review by travelindicator]
