All about the beach

Fortaleza is a city of over 2.5 million people in the north-east of Brazil and capital of the state of Ceará. To Brazilians, Fortaleza is synonymous with fantastic beaches and a a party-hard atmosphere, or sometimes a combination of the two! Fortaleza is also famous for producing textiles and leather.

When it comes to beaches, Fortaleza's Praia do Futuro is probably one of the best known in Brazil. It is a fairly long and stretched white-sand beach lined with more than 150 kiosks to eat and drink the day away when you're not sunbathing or in the water. Other beaches likes Praia de Iracema and Meireles are less appealing for swimming, but all the better for partying.

Inside of the city itself you will find some interesting squares like the Praça do Ferreira and Praça José de Alencar. The city's cathedral surrounded by a large open market selling everything from clothes to food. But really though, Fortaleza is about beaches. [Review by travelindicator]
