Como is a city in the ultimate North of Italy, situated at the Lake Como and at just a few minutes distance from Switzerland. Its proximity to both the lake with the same name and the snow-covered Alps make Como a popular tourist attraction. Not only can it boast of fantastic natural surroundings (mind you, Como is not the only charming town at Lake Como!) but the town itself has much to offer as well in terms of churches, museums, parks and palaces.
Besides taking in and strolling around the winding narrow streets of the old town, make sure to catch the main sights of the city, which are the 14th century Gothic-Renaissance Cathedral (duomo), the neoclassical Tempio Voltiano next to the waterfront, and the City Walls. If you are looking for a place that offers great views over the lake and the city, take a cable car up from Argegno.
Finally, if you are looking for a place to do some shopping, Como has plenty of boutiques and local shops selling things like clothes, shoes and home items. [Review by travelindicator]
