Glamour island

Capri is a rocky island in the Tyrrhenian Sea (specifically the Bay of Naples), just 5 kilometers - 2 miles or so - off the Sorrentine Peninsula. It is typically reached by ferry from Sorrento, Naples or Amalfi. Capri has been a popular holiday resort since the Roman Empire, and gets filled to the brim with tourists during the European summer holidays.

Capri is one of the two towns on the island, and is located just above the Marina Grande (the other town, Anacapri, is located higher up). La Piazzetta (or Piazza Umberto 1) is the heart of the town. It's a small square that is always full of people and has a few good but certainly pricy bars on it.

A must-see on Capri island is the Blue Grotto with its fantastically blue water, which you can enter in small rowing boat.

In between going to the beach (Marina Piccola is the most famous one) and exploring the island, you might want to do some shopping. Via Camerelle is the place where high-end luxury shopping centers, but around town you will also find shops that sell shoes, ceramics and other souvenirs. Limoncello, a liquor made from lemons, is a regional product and makes for a good gift for those back home. [Review by travelindicator]
