Brest is a port city of 140,000 in France's Bretagne (Brittany). The westernmost city of France was all but destroyed during the second world war, so besides the Tour Tanguy which is pictured with this article, a castle and remnants of an ancient City Wall, there are not too many historical sights to be found here.
Nevertheless, attractions like the Océanopolis aquarium and its impressive maritime museum (this being one of France's city's with the most longstanding naval tradition) make a visit to Brest worth your while if that's what you are after. If you enjoy seeing commercial ports in action then strolling along one of its many quais may be up your alley, while obviously there is plenty of good seafood (crab!) to be found here.
