Bled is a town in the Slovenian Alps in the far north of the country. It is a popular tourist destination (maybe even a bit too much so) because of its fantastic surroundings as well as the lake of the same name that it is situated at. The town is surrounded by greenery and mountains, offering an enormous amount of possibilities for outdoors exploration.
Although - as we just now already hinted - the town gets a little bit too touristy for its own good, this is a not-to-be-missed scenic spot on a trip to Slovenia. Lake Bled with its church in the middle of it and snow-covered mountains in the background makes for an awe-inspiring view. Towering above it all is Bled Castle, a medieval castle that is the oldest and most popular in Slovenia, built on a precipice above the town.
Next to Bled lies the Triglav National Park, great for outdoors activities and home to many waterfalls, gorges and lakes. [Review by travelindicator]
