Charm City

Baltimore is the largest city of Maryland, located on an arm of the Chesapeake Bay
Many charming neighbourhoods that each offer something different
Inner Harbour is the place where most tourists head to first; atmospheric and home to most main attractions

With a population of 622,000, Baltimore is the largest city in the American state of Maryland. It lies along the Patapsco River, itself an arm of the Chesapeake Bay, and attractions like its atmospheric Inner Harbor combined with good nightlife, a friendly populace and numerous good museums have made it a town that is rather popular with tourists. That in itself is quite the transformation from the city's historically industrial character.

Baltimore is a city with many nicknames, one of which is "city of neighbourhoods". It owes that name to the fact that the city constitutes an enormous amount of diverse neighbourhoods, often historically made up along ethnic lines and all with their own atmosphere. Some of the most iconic ones are Fells Point and Little Italy, as well as Charles Village, Canton and Federal Hill. Each of these offers visitors something different, in Little Italy you will for instance find plenty of Italian mom and pop stores, while in Federal Hill you will find some of the most hip bars and restaurants anywhere in town.

Other than that there are Fort McHenry, which defended the town against the British in 1812, the American Visionary Arts Museum, Maryland Science Center and a National Aquarium to check out. [Review by travelindicator]
