At under a 2 hour drive from the airport of Zurich you find the town and ski resort of Andermatt. The town sits at an altitude of 1,440m and is surrounded by the towering mountains of the Saint-Gotthard Massif. Most of the ski slopes on the two ski areas around town (Nätschen and Gemsstock) are at anywhere between 2,000 to 3,000m.
While Andermatt used to be a quiet and sleepy Swiss mountain town, new developments (such as that of a 5 star megaresort) are slowly changing things. Whether that's for better or worse please decide for yourself. [Review by travelindicator]
